traditional Elakkathali Choker
Design Details
- Traditional Kerala Heritage: The Elakkathali is a classic, highly favored bridal and festive ornament originating from Kerala. The name is derived from “Elakka” (meaning cardamomin Malayalam), as the delicate dangling gold leaves are stylized to resemble cardamoms or small shimmering leaves.
- Intricate Woven Grid: The base features a beautifully structured, flexible gold-toned mesh or collar band designed to sit comfortably flat against the collarbone.
- Dangling Charms & Stones: Accenting the lower rim are multiple closely arranged leaf-shaped golden metallic charms interspersed with vibrant ruby red and emerald green beads. These tiny, dangling elements are designed to catch the light and sway slightly with the wearer’s movement.
